Who Prepares the Baseball Lineup?
Each playing team has a Coach and he is the one who prepares a “Baseball Lineup” for his team depending on the skills and abilities of different players.
Multiple copies of the baseball lineup are printed and provided to the opposing team, the game announcers, and the scorekeepers, etc before the game. One copy will be there in the team dugout so players can follow it accordingly.
Baseball lineup or batting lineup can actually make or break a team, it’s important to get it right so a right player will be there to bat as per the game’s situation. - The first thing you need to do as a coach is to know your team. You must be aware of their strengths and weakness. You cannot create a good lineup if you are not aware of their game play.
- Then find out power hitters, contact hitters, speedsters. Each one has a special role to play.
- While filling the baseball lineup, you can put the most consistent base hit player on the first spot, give second spot to the second best base-hit player, third spot should be given to the power hitter. Fill up the remaining spots as per players skill set. Give the 8th spot to team’s worst batter and 9th spot to speedster.
- Similarly, you can construct a defence depending on the skill set of different players.
The success of a team depends a lot on how skilled players are and how skilled the Coach is. Both Coach and Players are important.
